Extraction of Anthocyanin from Rose Petals for Coloration of Biomordanted Wool Fabric

Natural products have gained worldwide favor due to their sustainable and ayurvedic nature. In this study, rose containing anthocyanin was explored as a source of yellowish–pink natural colorant for wool dyeing using various solvents (aqueous, alkaline, acidic, basified methanol). Dyeing performed by optimizing the following parameters: pH, temperature, time, salt concentration. It observed that aqueous extract with pH 3 employed at 80 °C 35 min addition 4 g/100 mL salt, acidic 2 40 alkaline 1 45 methanolic resulted in high tint (K/S) values. To improve colorfastness properties, salts iron (Fe+2), aluminum (Al+3), tannic acid (Tn) were used chemical mordant, whereas turmeric pomegranate biomordants. Iron (Fe+2) shades good characteristics. The plant dyed fabrics also evaluated against Gram-positive Gram-negative bacteria Staphylococcus aureus Escherichia coli, respectively, observe antibacterial potential. results indicate fabric naturally sourced petals can be valuable presence bioactive compounds dissipating effect allergy-causing synthetic fabrics.
